# What You’ll Need:

→ Bread

01 - 4 slices sandwich bread (white, whole wheat, or sourdough)

→ Cheese

02 - 4 slices cheddar cheese or any good melting cheese such as Gruyère, mozzarella, or Swiss

→ Butter

03 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

→ Optional Add-ins

04 - 2 slices tomato
05 - 2 slices cooked bacon
06 - 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

# How-To:

01 - Preheat the waffle maker according to the manufacturer's instructions.
02 - Spread a thin layer of softened butter on one side of each slice of bread.
03 - Place two slices of bread, buttered side down, on a clean surface. Add two slices of cheese and any optional add-ins if desired on top.
04 - Top with the remaining bread slices, buttered side up, forming two complete sandwiches.
05 - Place one sandwich into the preheated waffle maker, close the lid gently pressing lightly, and cook for 3 to 5 minutes until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
06 - Repeat with the second sandwich. Let each cool for one minute before slicing and serving hot.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • The waffle ridges create way more crispy surface area than a regular pan could ever achieve
  • It takes literally ten minutes from start to finish for the most satisfying comfort food
  • The indentations catch all the melted cheese in little pockets so every bite is perfect
02 -
  • Dont overcrowd the waffle maker or the cheese will ooze out into the machine and create a mess
  • Letting it rest for a full minute after cooking helps the cheese set slightly so it does not run everywhere when you cut it
03 -
  • Use a spatula to carefully lift the sandwich out of the waffle maker so those crispy ridges do not break off
  • If the cheese is not fully melted but the bread is done, try lowering the heat setting next time
